Local Project is Saved!
By Ilija Sekulovski
We recently told you guys about Local Project, a space dedicated to artists and the arts in our neighboring L.I.C. The group, being forced out of their home because of soaring rent prices, put together a kick-starter to help reach funds that would help them secure a location. Good news: They reached their goal early! The group offered loads of cool incentives to donate, such as your name on a brick wall in the space – and these incentives definitely helped them reach their goal.
The space will continue to be dedicated to the arts, and they’ll be planning lots of classes and events, such as DJ Spinning and website design classes, as well as movie screenings and poetry nights.
To celebrate, Local Project is having a party! It’s this Friday at 7 p.m., featuring music by local DJs, hot dogs and sauces by Astoria eatery Pao & Cha Cha, bread from Tom Cat Bakeryand beer from Lagunitas Brewing Company. Plus – unlimited beer and two hot dogs for just $20. If you’re in the arts scene, this is the place to be.
