Art and alcohol…what could be better?

Starting today, Astoria Wine and Spirits will be featuring the work of local photographer Jon Michael Anzalone – so you can browse for your next bottle of wine, while simultaneously browsing a wall full of art.

Jon is a photographer, but he says his photography isn’t about “camera equiment or technical approach,” but about “seeing, feeling and discovering.” Through his pictures, Jon wants to inspire – he wants people to react, to feel an emotion – to create catharsis through images.

The gallery at Astoria Wine and Spirits features 15 photos. One is of Astoria, but the rest showcase Jon’s travels from the past ten years. There’s shots from places like Istanbul, Romania, and the Republic of Georgia – including a supremely difficult-to-reach region in the mountains called Svaneti.

Jon tells us, “What you shoot tells you a little bit about who you are. I think people connect with personal work, so I hope they’ll enjoy what I have on display.” If you’re stopping by Astoria Wine and Spirits, stop and take a look at the photographs on the wall – and see how you feel. The gallery will be up for a month.

You can see more of Jon’s work on his website.
