How did you get into acting?
I went to acting school in Virginia, and I knew it was what I wanted to do. From there I moved to Astoria, and I loved it, so I’ve been here ever since!
You’re on the show Alpha House, what’s it about?
The show is a political comedy, currently in it’s second season. It stars John Goodman, and I play his Chief of Staff Tammy! It’s also only on Amazon Prime.
What’s your character Tammy like?
She’s got a hard job, and she works hard at it. She can get very frustrated, but that’s because she has to keep her senator in check, and it frustrates her. She likes to be in control.
Can you relate to Tammy?
Oh, absolutely, I can definitely relate to her. She’s a southerner, and so am I – I grew up in Virginia! So I think if I wasn’t an actress, I would grow up to be Tammy. I like to think I’m in control like her, and I can see myself as a southern lady with the big hair and in charge attitude.
What’s the most challenging part of being an actress?
Getting a job, and going on auditions. Auditions are always very nerve wracking.
Alpha House is shot at Kaufman Studios, what’s that like?
It’s a dream come true! I can walk to work! What could be better than that. But also, especially with working on Alpha house, everyone is like family. I love it. From the producers to the crew, it’s really like coming to work everyday and working with family. You get to know everyone so well.
What do you think of shows like Alpha House and Orange is the New Black being distributed online, instead of via cable?
I personally think it’s great. It provides so many more options for the viewer. It’s convenient, and gives you even more choices. You don’t have to stick to one narrow cable channel, you can pick and choose exactly what you want to see, and where you want to see it.
