Get it? It’s a pun. Because OK Cafe just opened up, and we are super excited. The new coffee shop will is independently owned, and will have all the things you want in a cafe. There’ll be baked goods and yummy pastries, and of course: really good coffee.

We’re always big fans of independently owned shops, but we’re extra happy that the owner, Giselle Grncarski, is a 15 year Astoria resident. There’s something really different about local shops that are owned by residents – when you have a feel for the neighborhood, you understand what it needs, and what your customers are like.

The offerings here are going to be a little more unique than, say, Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. Giselle took a real interested in finding unique offerings like Mexican Chili Infused Hot Chocolate, and iced coffee brewed with a special Japanese technique.

There will of course be a traditional espresso bar, so you’ll get your cappucinos and lattes and all the other classics, but we’ll be stopping by especially to try the drinks we can’t really find anywhere else.

The cafe is open 7 days a week, from 7 am to 7 pm.
