QNS Collective: Bringing Coworking Space to Astoria

s

If you’ve never heard of a coworking space, don’t fret. We’re here to break it down. Basically, a coworking space is a shared work environment – like an office, but for individuals. To put it simply: Know all those writers in Starbucks? The graphic designers working from their basement? The small start-ups that don’t really have a place to meet clients? Coworking spaces are the solution.

While Manhattan had its fair share of coworking spaces, Queens – and distinctly Astoria – were lacking one, and that niche has been filled by David Sanders and Argentina Flores, with the creation of QNS Collective.

QNS Collective Co-working Space

Founded in 2013, the goal that Argentina and David had in mind was to create a space filled with the energy of like minded entrepreneurs – professionals who wanted to join a shared space to swap ideas, team up on projects, and transform isolated business minds into a shared group. Argentina herself began as a graphic designer, and found that being isolated wasn’t always the best way to stay on top of goals and meet deadlines – and thought coworking spaces would be the perfect solution.

The space is member based, and members are chosen in a way that will continually develop the environment positively and progressively – maximizing work flow. There’s both communal and private work stations. Some of the perks at QNS Collective include :

• Creative & Business Workshops
• Commercial Grade Internet (Wired and Wireless)
• Meeting & Conference Room
• Private Call Rooms
• Space to Host Events & Meetings
• Networked Printer, Scanner, Fax & Copier

• Lounge & Library
• Stocked Kitchen, Free Coffee From Coffeed
• Private Lockers
• Open Monday-Saturday (With 24-Hour Access On The Way)
• Rooftop Lounge (Opening Soon)
• Reception/Concierge Services
• Hottest Location In Queens

Spacious and professional!

Basically, all the amenities you’d be offered while working for a company, but while working for yourself. There’s regular monthly memberships (which are actually pretty affordable), but there’s also drop-in packages – for things like meeting clients or needing to pitch your ideas to a business.

There’s also workshops and courses on topics such as business, design and technology – so you can learn the latest in changing trends. There’s even an event space, where members and non-members can come to mingle and network – a must for anyone interested in business.

If you’re interested in checking out QNS Collective, they’re having the first ever Queens Coworking Week, and every single day is absolutely free. That means you can go check out the space, bring your laptop, and spend the day working without paying a dime! There’s also loads of workshops and events – with varying prices. There’s also a kick off launch party this Friday, where you can get a first glimpse at the space.

QNS Collective is a great place to meet people – and a great way to network. We’re all for it – we can’t wait to see how Astorians use the space.
