It’s a week of grand openings! We’re loving it. The latest to open today is Jujube Tree Asian Vegan Cuisine, a much anticipated vegan spot – which lots of Astorians feel the neighborhood is lacking.

The restaurant, located at 35-02 30th Avenue, will serve up exactly what the name implies: Vegan, Asian food. As someone who really  loves steak, but hates nearly all other meats, I’m actually really excited about this restaurant. We’re interested to see the menu though – it seems to be easier to be vegetarian than vegan, and we can’t wait to see how they create a full palate from seemingly limited ingredients.

They’ll have all the classics like rice dishes, tofu, vegetables and more – and an extra cool offering they have is some Kosher offerings. To be honest, while some people might cry “hipster,” at a new vegan joint, we’re happy that a group that often have the least restaurant offerings are getting a new place to enjoy!

The hours are the Jujube Tree are Monday – Thursday 12-11 pm, Fridays and Saturdays 12 – 11:30 pm, Sunday 12:30 – 10:30 pm.

Let us know if you stop by! Tell us what you think.
