Man Killed by Q Train in Astoria

By Ilija Sekulovski

A man was hit and killed by a train when he fell off the subway platform at Broadway station, near 31st street.

It’s not yet clear why the man, who was in his 30’s,  was stumbling on the train tracks before he fell – there have been no reports made yet. The incident occurred around 6:55 pm last night – Friday, January 9th.

He was struck by an oncoming Q train, and died immediately.

Outbound N and Q trains were being turned inbound at 57th Street-Seventh Avenue in Midtown or at Queensboro Plaza, and all N and Q service was suspended between Queensboro Plaza and Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard, the MTA said.

Customers were advised to use the Q102 or Q69 buses as alternatives.
