Astoria, you’re not going to like this one.

An 11 year old girl was walking to school in the neighborhood, when a man allegedly attempted to steal her cell phone.

The event occurred on Tuesday, January 20th – around 7:30 am. She was walking near Ditmars Boulevad and 28th street, when the suspect walked up to her and attempted to steal her phone from her.

The girl – thinking quick – pulled the phone back and started to scream, scaring off the suspect.

There were no injuries reported. Below is a sketch of the man believed to have been the suspect.  He has been described as a black male standing about 5 feet 9 inches tall.

Parents – remember to tell your children to keep electronics and expensive belongings somewhere that isn’t out in the open – it’s safer, especially if they’re walking alone somewhere.
