Drunk Vocab Bee at Astoria Coffee
By Ilija Sekulovski
Astoria Coffee is teaming up with Astoria Bookshop, two of our local favorites, and putting on an event that is sure to be lots of fun – a Drunk Vocab Bee.
Here’s what they had to say about the event:
On Saturday, February 7th, come down to Astoria Coffee for the first ever Drunk Vocab Bee, co-sponsored by the Astoria Bookshop! Test your vocab prowess against your fellow lexicographical nerds and compete for great prizes while partaking in Astoria Coffee’s new wine & beer selections.
“Sign-up will begin at 7pm. Participation is limited to 15 people, so arrive early to guarantee your spot in the competition! We’ll begin with a written round, followed by 4 rounds of oral vocab quizzing. A panel of three totally unbiased and incorruptible judges will hand out scores for technical merit and artistic presentation, with prizes awarded to the top scorers, including gift certificates to Astoria Coffee and the Astoria Bookshop.
Astoria Coffee is located at 30-04 30th Street, one block from the 30th Avenue stop on the N/Q train.
The judging panel will include Lexi Beach (Astoria Bookshop), Dennis Lee (Astoria Coffee), and Beth Parker (Beth Parker PR), with Tony Hightower (Trivia NYC) serving as MC for the evening.
