Growing up in Astoria, Pat Gravino, JD (Vice President), knew that one day he wanted to open his own business in the neighborhood. Life happened, and Pat found himself in Long Island – where he resided with his wife and daughter.
He began his career as an attorney and took the skill set he acquired with him when he decided to build a financial services practice. Pat decided to join AXA Advisors, LLC, a member company of AXA Equitable Financial Services, LLC. At the end of 2011, he was promoted to Vice President within AXA Advisors and set a goal to build his team strong enough to justify the opening of an Astoria Queens location.
Well in just 3 and a half short years, Pat realized his goal and was given the opportunity to run the brand new Astoria, Queens office located at 21-77 31st Street (directly across the street from the famed Italian restaurant, Trattoria L’Incontro).
“I was already so engulfed in the community here, and I knew that if there was one place I wanted to open a business, it was Astoria.”
When Pat says he was engulfed in the community, he’s not kidding. To name just a few of his charitable and community seats, Pat is on the board of the Astoria-LIC Kiwanis Club, the board of the Long Island City Lawyers Club, the board of the United Civic Community Association, the board of the Columbian Lawyers Association, and is involved with the Fida Club, an Italian-American social club in Astoria.
“It’s just something that made sense to me. The community means so much to me and I found myself traveling back and forth from my Long Island office to Astoria almost every day as the bulk of my clients and friends are located here.” Pat has helped dozens of business owners in the neighborhood to implement retirement plans, reduce their cost on insurance programs and protect their families through proper planning techniques; in particular, buy-sell agreement funding. It’s all about planning ahead of time and Pat makes sure he creates this sense of urgency in his clients that cause them to take action. The last thing a hard working business owner would want to deal with is the lack of a business valuation and a properly structured and funded but sell agreement.
“One of the main concepts I cover as a financial professional is a planning tool referred to as a buy-sell agreement wherein two or more business partners work with their attorneys and tax advisors to draft an agreement that is typically funded with life insurance to plan for the ideal transition of business interest to their family”.
What Pat does is show business owners how to protect their hard work – and plan in advance for any difficulties that arise.
“I show them planning strategies that protect them, should things go awry, or not as planned.”
Pat also helps on the personal level. From the financial services perspective, he assists individuals in all facets of life, including wealth management and distribution strategies, risk management including life, disability income, and long term care insurance, as well as effective estate planning techniques to assure the most effective transfer of wealth to the next generation.
