Sixth Annual Pajama Drive At The Astor Room
By Ilija Sekulovski
This years event is being held at the amazing Astor Room at Kaufman Astoria Studios on Thursday, November 19, 2015 from 6:00-9:00PM. We encourage the community to wear pajamas to this fun event and donate lots of PJ's!
The goal of this years Drive is to collect 1,000 new pairs of pajamas and books to benefit the children of The Pajama Program. We've covered this successful Drive for numerous years and we're delighted to be a part of it and assist in reaching its goal for the children. The organizer of this annual event, Maria L. Delgado has brought our Astoria community together for this worthy cause and with the new venue at The Astor Room, we know that the donations will surpass all of our expectations.
Genevieve Piturro, Founder & Director of The Pajama Program has made it her mission to provide new pajamas and books to children in need nationwide. They reside in shelters, group and foster homes awaiting adoption. Many of these children have
been neglected, abused and abandoned and many have never owned a pair of pajamas or have had a bedtime story read to them.
Join us on November 19th as Astoria comes together once again for a night full of community, fun, live jazz, food, raffles and most of all, tons of pajamas for the children. Donations in any amount of new pajamas ranging in sizes from newborn to 18 and new books are greatly appreciated.
