On the same day that a bomb threat in LA had classes for more than half a million students canceled, New York City also received a threat towards its schools.
The threat, according to authorities, was said to be not credible and merely a hoax which is now under investigation.
According to Pix11, Commissioner William Bratton stated that the threat, which is being looked into as a hoax, came in the form of an email, and resembled similar threats across the country as well as in Los Angeles, where schools were closed Tuesday.
The Commissioner also stated that threats such as the email were made to illicit fear only, and was concerned at citizens overreacting to the obvious hoax.
NYPD is currently investigating with the aid of FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and LAPD, according to Pix11.
