A Petition For Astoria Park Bathroom Repairs

A petition has been started on change.org from Astoria resident Anthony Liberatoscioli in order to raise enough awareness so that the public bathrooms in Charybdis Playground at Astoria Park be fixed and reopened.

The bathrooms were closed in 2015 during the spring/summer/fall seasons due to a plumbing issue, and have remained inoperable ever since.

Although the bathrooms are usually closed during winter, parents and park goers alike have rallied for the repairs immediately, as they do not wish to go another year without the facilities.

The online petition has now raised over 500 signatures and states that not only is Astoria Park a massive part of the community, attracting thousands of people during peak seasons, but also acts like a second home to many of the children in the area.

The petition hopes to rally the support of Councilman Costa Constantinides, and to urge the New York City Parks and Recreation Department to repair the bathrooms and clean them up.
