Get Into the Swing Of Things At Dandana With Live Jazz & Brunch
By Ilija Sekulovski
Did you know that Dandana has been a staple in the Astoria community for over 10 years? It’s okay if you didn’t know because this hidden gem is cleverly tucked away on 42nd street and Broadway and has been offering delicious Middle Eastern fare and hookah for over a decade. It’s what we would call a destination spot because it’s off mainstream Steinway and the back-to-back hookah lounges.
Dandana has a lot more to offer than hookah and trust us, it’s worth taking a peek. First off, forget everything you think you know about hookah lounges, Dandana offers a full kitchen that serves up an authentic Middle Eastern and American menu as well as a full bar to wash down all of that delicious food.
Let’s talk about brunch baby, brunch is offered every Sunday from 12p – 4p but once a month, you will be treated to a Jazz brunch featuring The Jordan Piper Duo. The next installment of this auditory pleasure will be THIS Sunday, July 17th!
And, that’s just the tip of the entertainment iceberg. Committed to adding to the live music scene in Astoria, Dandana now has a rotating offering of live music every Wednesday from 9p – 11p.From chill acoustic to “Actoria” (the raucous Cabaret show hosted by Josh Bardier that has gained a major following in the last year), this no cover/no minimum slot is always a delight.
The space is stunningly decorated with a rustic Moroccan feel with the interior filled with vintage and repurposed artifacts from Astoria and all of Queens. Whether you prefer to be inside or outside you’ll be satisfied because Dandana offers outdoor seating so you can take in some rays and feel the breeze this Sunday while you sip on unlimited Bloody Marys & Mimosas for only $12!
So, the next time you’re looking to break free of the herd while staying in your favorite neighborhood, stop into Dandana! Be sure to swing by this Sunday and if you mention Give Me Astoria you’ll get a FREE cocktail!
You’re welcome, Astoria!
