Queens Book Festival

It may be one of the simple joys that are still alive and doing quite well in the digital age — books. This Sunday, August 7th, 2016 from 11am – 6pm will be the first ever Queens Book Festival at Kaufman Astoria Studios’ backlot. The festival is rightfully titled ‘A Borough Without Boarders’ as almost half of Queens’ population is foreign-born as of 2010.

For many of us, most of our fondest memories are from curling up with a Shakespearean, Satirical, or Romantic novel to pass the time and allowed us to escape from our structured and at times demanding lives. And, for others, it is our medium for not making eye contact with the guy sitting across from us on the Q train. Whatever the reason may be, there is a feeling of triumph that washes over us as we turn to the next page and continue to indulge.

The festival will be showcasing areas of interest ranging from:

  • Queens Central – the umbrella genre of speculative fiction, including science fiction and fantasy.
  • Children’s World
  • Young Adult Stage
  • Culinary Stage
  • Queens LIT Salon
  • Workshop Salon
  • Queens Poetry Cafe
  • Queens Poetry Cafe Open Mic

Whether you are a fan of the timeless classic or want to catch up on your summer reading, have a walk on over to Kaufman Astoria Studios’ backlot and show your support!
