Cozy Up in Astoria’s Newest Tea Shop

The newest addition on Steinway Street offers an alternative to the daily, hectic and caffeine-driven journey in the form of Prince’s Tea Shop.

There are no paper cups nor are there tea bags here, but rather those pretty white and flowered pots often found in your mother’s dining room glass cabinet.

Here, you can snuggle into the simple but stylish interior with a pot of Rose Lovers tea, alongside a variety of sweet and savory accompaniments such as the green tea crepe cake or a fresh Autumn salad filled with cranberries, walnuts, and feta.

Owner Manny Lee wanted to create a space that would provide something different in the already diverse environment of Astoria. While there are plenty of nightlife centered around alcohol, there was nowhere that offered a place to enjoy high-quality tea served in elegant china sets. This shop, alongside two others including his flagship store in Flushing, were formed from Lee’s childhood dream of opening a tea room.

for its over 100 varieties of teas imported from France and many freshly baked eats supplied by Lee’s Williamsburg partner. These teas can be served in a delightful patterned pot or even cold and topped with perfect layers of milk foam and Oreo crumbs. Also available are a variety of season-inspired salads, sandwiches, and even wine in case there isn’t anything that is your cup of tea.

Whether it is an afternoon break or a late-night snack, Prince’s Tea Shop is open to meet your need in the form of deliciously layered treats and a satisfying cup of warm (or cold!) tea.
