Package Thief Makes Her Way Through Astoria

Astorians are usually unsurprised by package thieves stealing deliveries right from their door step. It’s been an ongoing problem for many residents of western Queens.

Deliveries are usually left unattended when no one is home to sign for them – an issue that has caught the attention of many would-be thieves.

The latest video shows a young woman outside a home on 43rd street between 28th and 25th Avenue. She stops outside the residents after spotting the package and pretends to be on her phone as she looks out for any witnesses. When the coast is clear, she makes her move by confidently walking straight up to the large box and picking it up. Even as she struggles with the size and weight, it doesn’t stop her as she makes her way down the street.

Are your packages safe from thieves this holiday season?

According to residents in the area, this isn’t the first time the young lady has taken liberty with other people’s deliveries. One Astorian said that she’s been making her way through Astoria for a long while.

The holiday season is especially at high risk of package thefts. In 2015, the NYPD arrested three individuals who were making their way around Astoria with a shopping cart filled with packages left unintended.
