Opened over 10 years ago, Mojave has cemented its place in having some of the finest Mexican fare in Queens. Much like its sister restaurant Agave located in the West Village, Mojave is known for its fresh takes on Mexican culinary classics. Located at 22-36 31st Street, Mojave is a must for anyone who wants to enjoy the authentic flavors of Mexico and the Southwest close to home.

Patrons can feast on favorites to start such as guacamole, of which Mojave has four different types: traditional, borracho (spicy) for $14, crab-chipotle-salpicon guacamole for $16, and mango pineapple-habanero guacamole for $15. Other popular starters include their chicken wings, prepared with spicy chipotle and blue cheese, accompanied by vegetables for $11, and their nachos de carne asada, steak nachos with corn tortilla chips, queso, pico de gallo, beans, jalapeno for $13.

When it comes time for your main course, however, the fan favorite is Mojave’s sizzling fajitas, which range from the classic skirt steak fajita ($26), chicken fajita ($22), jumbo shrimp fajita ($27), and vegetable fajita ($17). Can’t decide between all four delicious options? Fret not, for there is an option to combine all of the aforementioned fajita options for $30.

In addition to its mouthwatering food options, Mojave offers a generous happy hour nearly every day from 4-7PM. Its happy hour drink specials include Sangritas ($6), Margaritas ($5), Sangria ($5), house wine ($5), and draft beers ($4).

Mojave’s strongest suit? The restaurant’s love for the community, which welcomed it with open arms over a decade ago. And it shows. The restaurant recently expanded and opened a back room perfect for private events which holds approximately 60 people. This year, Mojave was also the host of the annual pajama drive on behalf of the Pajama Program, which aims to donate pajamas and books to children in need. (see story here)
