Astoria’s dog-owners shocked after pins left around tree planters

Pups were left with punctured paws after walking near a recently developed building, located at Hoyt Avenue and 23rd St., across from Astoria’s new dog park.

The hidden traps were discovered after a local dog owner noticed his beloved pet limping and bleeding from its paws, finding pins mixed into the planters in front of the building where they had just walked.

The heartless culprit threw the pointed pins in planters outside of the building, which could not be easily seen by the average person’s eyes, let alone that of an innocent pet. Others raised concerns that this is dangerous not only to animals but for any passerby walking, especially children and the elderly who are prone to falls.

While no suspect has been formally identified, it is believed that local police are reviewing any potential footage to catch the perpetrator.
