Give Me Burgers!

With summer here and the grills all out, the natural trendy food item becomes an all-time American classic: the burger. Whether you like a regular classic hamburger, a cheeseburger stuffed with some delicious mac n cheese, a veggie burger, or any kind of burger in between, Astoria has got one for you!

Burgerology

Ah, Burgerology. If you’re looking for the classics or even for a burger with a twist, you’ve come to the right place. Kobe blend burger? They’ve got it. Not a red meat fan? Don’t worry, they have veggie and turkey blend patties, too. A burger for breakfast lovers with a sunny side-up egg and bacon jam?! Why not. By far the standout burger, however, is the Mac Attack burger ($16.95). Loaded with deliciously creamy mac n cheese and bacon atop a pretzel bread bun the Mac Attack will be sure to leave your tummy full and happy.

KX burgerbar

KX burgerbar prides itself on its creative and innovative takes on the classic burger, and their patties range from lighter options such as a quinoa blend or a turkey burger, to your choice of a 8 oz.-16 oz. beef patty. The fan favorite? The Bad Boy Burger: a 16 oz. double beef patty topped with tomato, green leaf, fried shallots, barbecue sauce, and sharp cheddar cheese ($17.75).

The Sparrow Tavern

The Sparrow Tavern: an Astoria institution. Needless to say, you can’t go wrong with just about anything here and the same goes for their burgers. While they don’t have quite as an expansive menu as other burger spots in the neighborhood, look for special burgers. Case in point: the above with kimchi, bacon, pickled radish, cucumber and a spicy aioli which was featured on the restaurant’s Instagram. Both classic and vegetarian burger options are available!

Burger Club

Burger Club, first opened in 2011, was one of the original locations to put Astoria on the map to burger paradise. What makes Burger Club stand out is not only its variety of toppings and sides, as well as its choices when it comes to the base of the burger (veggie, beef, etc.), but its delicious blend of naturally fed meat courtesy of Pat LaFreida. Each burger at Burger Club is served with lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickle, and the restaurant’s own homemade spread. While each burger there is delicious, my personal favorite is the California Burger ($13.25) topped with Canadian bacon, a cheese blend, guacamole and pico de gallo.

Queens Comfort

Queens Comfort has become a neighborhood staple. Its innovative menu items, friendly staff and BYOB policy makes it a favorite not only in Astoria, but New York City. And, of course, they have the burgers of your dreams; have a sweet tooth? Perhaps the PB & J burger ($12) is right for you. Craving something a bit more savory? Try the Ring Of Fire burger, topped with fried jalapeño, sriracha aioli, bell peppers, and cheddar cheese ($12). Whichever your preference, they’re sure to have it.
