Council Member Constantinides calls for additional trauma centers in Queens

Following the release of a data report on gunshot victims in NYC by The City in conjunction with Measure of America and The Trace, Council Member and Queens Borough President candidate Constantinides is calling for better access to trauma centers in Queens.

Data released indicates that between 2010 and 2018, shooting victims were more likely to die in Queens than in any other borough. The report states that while other boroughs in NYC have multiple trauma centers, Queens only has one, which is located at the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.

In response to the report, Council Member Constantinides commented the following: “It’s crucial we build a state-of-the-art trauma center in southeast Queens, because every second counts for shooting victims. But we much also fight the long-term reasons that put guns in the hands of people who have few other opportunities”.
