Bar Italia, located 35-03 Broadway, has permanently closed and will become a Mexican restaurant, Give Me Astoria can confirm.

The restaurant occupied the space formerly known as Portalia for approximately one year before shutting down. Bar Italia offered a variety of Italian dishes, drinks, and specials. The location operated as an Italian restaurant for nearly a decade.

The new lease has been brokered by NY Space Finders.  “Restaurant leases and retail leases are still being signed despite the pandemic”, said Luca Di Ciero, owner of NY Space Finders.

Opening soon is Ruta Oaxaca, a Mexican restaurant specializing in flavors from the Southwestern Mexican state of the same name. Patrons can expect a variety of moles, mezcal, tacos, and more! An official opening date has not yet been set, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted!
