Give Me Astoria is sad to share that Beans and Lager is permanently closing its doors after nearly 3 years.

The closure of the restaurant was announced via social media Friday evening. Its last day of operation will be tomorrow, August 23rd. Bears & Lager, located at 33-01 36th Ave., was known for its Mediterranean cuisine, and coffee bar. The restaurant also hosted bi-weekly comedy shows and jazz nights before the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic hit.

In a joint statement released on Instagram, the owners of Beans & Lager stated the following: “…We have transferred the reins of the restaurant over to some fantastic people who we feel will no doubt possess the same values we kept for all the years we have served our guests. Quality and friendship, great service and commitment. To all of the amazing people that had graced our establishment, we have loved serving you over the years. We got to meet and know so many amazing and wonderful people. People who turned into regulars, who turned into close friends, who turned into family…”

We are certainly sad to see another Astoria staple close, but would like to wish the owners of Beans & Lager the best of luck going forward!
