The Astoria Bookshop and Q.E.D. are teaming up to bring more books and literary events to Queens.   The Astoria Bookshop has curated a selection of books for Q.E.D. geared towards the growing artistic community in Queens, including memoirs written by comedians and books that help spark creativity.   This partnership will allow Q.E.D. the opportunity to provide books from local writers as well as authors who have graced its stage or taught classes at the venue such as Mike Sacks(Vanity Fair editor), Ophira Eisenberg (SCREW EVERYONE), and Baratunde Thurston(HOW TO BE BLACK).   Q.E.D. owner Kambri Crews, author of the memoir BURN DOWN THE GROUND has a vested interest in cultivating the literary scene in  Queens.   “I’m excited to provide an avenue to introduce books to readers,” said Crews. “In the short time we’ve been open, Q.E.D. has hosted dozens of published authors and emerging artists. Selling their books and providing books on their craft is yet another way we can support their artistic endeavors.”     In the 18 months they’ve been open, The Astoria Bookshop has found a loyal community of local readers, writers and storytellers. Owner of the shop, Lexi Beach, is an avid supporter of live entertainment and the arts, as well as the written word.   “I’m thrilled to be partnering with Q.E.D. in creating a new space for people to find great books right here in Astoria,” said Beach. “And by cohosting author readings on their stage, we’ll be able to bring even greater book events to the neighborhood.”   Both parties are excited to open more doors to local artists and authors in this merging of written and spoken word.   ABOUT THE ASTORIA BOOKSHOP    Established in 2013, the Astoria Bookshop is the only general interest bookstore in western Queens. Owned and operated by publishing veteran Lexi Beach, the store boasts a carefully curated inventory catering to the vibrant and diverse communities of Astoria and Long Island City.   The Bookshop hosts and sponsors a broad variety of  events in the area, including author readings, children’s storytime, writing classes,  reading series, mindfulness meditation workshops, and openmic storytelling.   ABOUT Q.E.D.    We like to think of Q.E.D. as an afterschool space for grown ups. Our affordable classes and shows are as diverse as Queens itself. At Q.E.D. you’ll find arts and crafts,  standup comedy, tastings, DIY projects, poetry slams, game nights, walking tours, storytelling, gardening, improv, and everything in between. In a nutshell, we aim to provide a fun, creative, casual space to laugh and learn by opening our stage to performers of various levels of experience and hosting classes and workshops that are affordable and accessible to all types of folks.
